I am indebted to many people without whose expertise and support I would not
have advanced in my research and accomplished it.
First of all, I would like to offer a deep gratitude to my supervisor, prof. Danuta
Gabryś-Barker - a remarkable scientist and a great personality. There is a long list of
acknowledgments for which I owe her: sharing her vast knowledge and helping me find
my own scientific paths, for the invaluable support in selecting and approaching
problems, and for setting high standards at every stage of my research - to name but a
few.
My gratitude extends to prof. David Singleton who helped me establish
