Abstract

Artykuł podejmuje temat posthumanizmu i transhumanizmu, wskazując na rozmywanie granic między człowiekiem a technologią oraz na zmianę sposobu rozumienia tożsamości we współczesnej kulturze cyfrowej. W tekście omówiono wizję świata przedstawioną w serialu „Altered Carbon”, gdzie świadomość może być kopiowana i przenoszona do nowych ciał, co prowadzi do utraty jedności jaźni i rozbicia podmiotowości właściwej tradycyjnemu rozumieniu człowieka. W artykule podkreślono, że choć technologia obiecuje przekroczenie biologicznych ograniczeń, to jednak jednocześnie niesie ryzyko utraty autentycznego doświadczania świata i emocjonalnego zakorzenienia w cielesności. Dodaje się, że cyborgiczna tożsamość staje się metaforą współczesnego podmiotu – rozproszonego, hybrydycznego i podatnego na fragmentaryzację w epoce cyfrowej nieśmiertelności.

The article explores the concepts of posthumanism and transhumanism, highlighting the blurring boundaries between humans and technology as well as the changing understanding of identity in contemporary digital culture. It discusses the vision of the world presented in the series Altered Carbon, where consciousness can be copied and transferred into new bodies, leading to the loss of a unified sense of self and the fragmentation of subjectivity traditional- ly associated with being human. The text emphasizes that although technology promises to surpass biological limitations, it simultaneously carries the risk of losing authentic experience and emotional grounding in the body. It should be added that the cyborg identity becomes a metaphor for the modern subject-dispersed, hybrid, and susceptible to fragmentation in the era of digital immortality.
