Abstract

One of the most difficult forms of translator’s work is translating the words of a politician, especially synchronous translation of the head of state’s speech. This requires excellent knowledge of language, terminology, culture, savoir vivre, discretion, resistance to stress, especially when the interpreter is obliged to translate dictatorial leaders who do not respect human rights, including the translator himself. The article consists of two parts – the first discusses the features of the political discourse, the second discusses the specificity of interpretation based on the example of the memoirs of interpreters of the leaders of the Soviet Union and Russia
